"Performance poet, Brendan Hickey opens his "Vergions" albumwith "UFObia", a chilling spoken piece above swirling synth noisesthat could well herald the apocalypse."A Loser Wins" and "Tempting Always" continue in the same veinThere are echoes of Paul Durcan in Hickey's clipped and measured delivery, and the production by Karl odlum works a treat.A welcome break from the predictability of much that passes for cutting edge rock"

“I really like "VERGIONS"…….very atmospheric……wonderful production…..I particularly enjoyed “Lifewater”.

“A mind blowing visual fusion of poetry and music, rooted in the rawness of the blues with a psychedelic twist.” Enda Reilly Dublin South FM
“A brilliant project to be involved in……an eclectic mix that sits together very well because of the distinctive vocal, words and phrasing……..the attention to detail shows how much a labour of love “Vergions” is.
Brian Brannigan (A Lazarus Soul)
"I was so pleased to collaborate with Brendan on his "Vergions" project. It was an honour to have someone like Karl Odlum (whose previous production duties with other artists I have greatly admired) work on my track. Brendan is a living legend and "Vergions" is a work of true greatness. Let's raise our glasses up to Mr Hickey.

Hearty Congratulations on “Vergions” It really is an excellent production and you’ve risen to new heights in blending voice and music for a real whammy (literary term) of emotional power. All the more so, when one considers that it’s new music as well. Karl has excelled himself in the atmospheric production, and the voice comes out clearly all the way through – a primary requirement which often just doesn’t happen. The stereo effects/music blend in well and never threaten the poems. Your stuff is new, novel, artistically satisfying, and very accessible – what more do they want!

I’ve just listened to “Vergions” It's lyrical, reverential, Psychedelic and Kamakazi and this is all good. Really liked Marrakesh, the mixing of languages is a great opening, musically it lifts slowly beside the words spoken with a sort of bubbling, hidden or held back excitement, ending somewhat abruptly leaving the listener wanting more, a great ending. Ger did a wonderful job on harmonica in “Autumn Blues” a definite focus puller..."Remember Her Well" is a lovely ambiguous title and a touching poem with some philosophical images I really liked. I think also there is in parts a juxtaposition of poetic styles which I think really worked and enhanced the themes. Sixth Night has a Cohen vibe to it with the female vocal and the words which are so beautifully chosen. Well Done!
